Terms of Service

Last updated: July 15, 2026

1. What NeuroLog is

NeuroLog is a communication-support platform operated by the NeuroLog.life 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It provides an AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) board for children, progress dashboards for parents, and structured session logging for therapists. Access during the pilot is by request and admin approval.

2. NeuroLog is not medical care

NeuroLog is a support tool. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose or treat any condition, is not a substitute for professional evaluation or therapy, and must never be relied on in an emergency. AI-generated summaries describe app activity patterns only — they are not clinical assessments. Always consult your child's licensed providers for medical decisions.

3. Accounts and eligibility

You must be 18 or older to create an account. A child may use the communication board only under an account created and consented to by their parent or legal guardian. Therapist accounts must be created by practicing professionals; linking to a child requires the family's code and creates access only to that child's record. You are responsible for keeping your credentials and child-mode PIN private.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to: access data of families not linked to you, probe or attempt to bypass security controls, misuse invite/claim codes, upload unlawful content, resell the service, or use it to harass anyone. We may suspend accounts that put children's data at risk, pending review.

5. Your data

Our Privacy Policy (including the Children's Privacy Notice) governs everything we collect and is part of these terms. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your profile. We never sell data or run advertising.

6. AI-assisted insights

Before information is sent to the AI, NeuroLog removes or excludes direct personal identifiers. The AI processes only limited event information, such as pictogram selections, emotions, activities, and observations. It does not receive the child's name or other direct identifying information and is not used to identify or re-identify the child.

When NeuroLog generates an AI-assisted insight, it does not send your child's name or other direct personal details to the AI service. The AI receives only the limited events needed for the insight, such as selected pictograms, emotions, requests, or logged activities. Any connection between those events and your child remains within NeuroLog so the insight can be shown only to authorized parents and therapists.

7. Service availability

NeuroLog is a nonprofit pilot provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available." We work hard to keep it reliable (the child board is designed to work offline), but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability and may change or discontinue features as the pilot evolves. Donations are voluntary gifts to the nonprofit and are not payment for services.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NeuroLog.life and its volunteers, students, and advisors are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA.

10. Changes and contact

If we materially change these terms we will email account holders in advance. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance. Questions: founders@neurolog.life.
